Meetings 2026

THREE SHIRES BRANCH of GMB meets 11 times per year. The meetings are friendly and informal, and are a great opportunity to seek advice, take part in the democratic life of the union, and make new friends. Travel expenses are paid. (Alternatively, if you email the branch secretary on andy.newman@gmbactivist.org.uk in advance of the meeting, he will send you a Teams invite to attend remotely)

BRANCH ELECTIONS:

In compliance with GMB Rule 35.7, all branch officers including the branch committee are due for election every 4 years. The next scheduled elections are due in June 2026. Nominations will be taken in the meetings in March 2026, April 2026 and May 2026. If valid nominations are received during those 3 meetings, then nominations will not be taken at the June meeting when the election takes place. If there is more than one nomination for any position, election between the candidates will take place through show of hands. The position to be elected are:

Under GMB Rule 36 and Rule 35.3: the branch president

Under GMB Rule 37 and Rule 35.3: the branch secretary

Under GMB Rule 38 and Rule 35.3: the branch equality officer

Under GMB Rule 38a and Rule 35.3: the branch youth officer

Under GMB Rule 38b and Rule 35.3: the branch race officer

Under GMB Rule 40 and Rule 35.3: two branch member auditors

Under GMB Rule 35.3: members of the branch committee – there should be 9 members of the committee, these include the branch president, branch secretary, branch equality officer, branch race officer and branch officer.
